THE EVENT

" Ana Sloughi, Asli tounsi ", " I am a sloughi, my origin is Tunisian ",

Under the slogan " Ana Sloughi, Asli tounsi "* , the Mediterranean Fauna and Flora club ( CFFM) is organizing for the second year in a  raw, the action “saving the Tunisian sloughi” that will be held along with the International Festival of the Desert of Douz.

The festival of Douz is a cultural event celebrating traditions of  South Tunisia. Part of its program is dedicated to the sloughi and the  hunting of the later . 

Unfortunatly, we are noticing a significant decline of sloughis' population in the south part of Tunisia  along with  a progressive degradation  of the breed.

Sloughi is under threat in Tunisia today, and if we do not react quickly it will be too late. 

WHAT'S OUR MISSION GOAL?

The mission of the CFFM  is to fix up a national mapping of the sloughi on the Tunisian territory based on the following actions;

-listing up each sloughi, provide it with  a chip and follow it life long.

-Launch in collaboration with The National School of veterinary medicine, biological and genetic research projects on the sloughi . Those projects aim to establish a national database of for the Tunisian sloughis , an informational a Web site and a network dedicated for the laters that will enable and help their reproduction and conservation.

- Establish a national sloughi  breeding strategy

- Establish a "certificate of Tunisian origine" according to  standards of the national and international authorities (example: Moroccan sloughi).

HOW THE MISSION EVOLVES?

During the edition 2011 and as for the first edition of the action " let's save the sloughi 2010", more than twenty volunteer veterinarians will be looking for sloughis and every one othe laters will be treated as the following

-Examined,  measured, weighed, photographed, inoculated, treated against chips and parasites and provided with a chip, 

- Having a blood sample for biological and genetic analyses,
 - Having an index card with all the collected information  and pad of vaccination. The card will be created by CFFM in association  with several veterinarians  and will be given to  the owners of the sloughi. 

A competition " Best sloughi 2011 " will be ongoing along with the action rewarding the owners of the most beautiful and healthy sloughi.

HOW TO HELP US ?

The action "let's save sloughis " addresses mainly voiunteer veterinarians who will leave their offices  for two days to look up for sloughis. Yet,every person can join and be part of the action.

There are several ways to support us by: 

-Sending a donation to the CFFM that will finance various vaccines, and treatments

-Being part of the organization staff
